I have been listening to everyone cut up the budget that has been presented with increases and cuts. It is interesting to see someone try to defend it. There are a couple of things that make it interesting to me. One, the numbers that are being reported state that there is an overall increase in spending. Setting aside the earmarks that were said would not be part of Obamas budget but have somehow found a home there from both parties, it is interesting to me that the president has said that many things have been cut back as if that is a good thing based on the total amount being larger than last year. (The rationalization is truly frightening)
Question: How do these people define fiscal responsibility? Anyone…..anyone…..Buller……Buller
The second thing is that I seem to remember a line by line look at the budget and using a scalpel rather than an axe being portrayed during the campaign. Did the scalpel get lost in the move or maybe it is just a scalpel that is as sharp as a butter knife. Not sure but it got me thinking of where this might all be heading so being in a cynical and sarcastic mood, I came up with this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day all.
Great job Ira. I read an intersting piece yesterday that they are shying away from the term depression because they don;t want to scare people. Well the reality is it is a depression. Now many say what can we do? Well perhaps you can draft a cartoon showing people floating out to sea saying when is that help coming? Best Wishes. Now, I would definitely like to see that cartoon; I'd understand it a bit more.I'm not logged in Ira, this is Ronyae; not confused, but would like to know more about this cartoon. May I ask, what is 'Obama-nomics'? I'm not getting the actual cartoon ... and, is that a fish?Hey Ronyae,"Obama-nomics" is just a reference to President Obama's economic policies and actions. Most presidents have one. "Reganomics" on and on. As far as the toon, I was wondering how these economic policies would affect the evolution of man or woman. Basically from ocean to homeless to soup kitchen is what I was going for. Hope that helps and have a great day. Good luck with the book tour.IraThanks Ira, most helpful. Thanks Robert,The only good thing about all this turmoil is that I'm not without a lot of material in which to do cartoons. Take it easy.Ira
Nice cartoon! Of course, if we still had the Bushonomics that got us into this mess, the homeless guy would still be there, but there'd probably be no Soup Kitchen!Hey Ben,Thanks, and you won't get any argument from me about who started the engine on this baby but I would say that President Obama and his administration has hit the nitrous. Thanks again.Ira
I guess I don't get this one, either. The last time I ate at the soup kitchen (their food can be very good, by the way), the Bush-meister was runnin' the ranch. Standing room only, too! Now, I don't recommend soup kitchens as a way of life, but I do recommend them for those recovering from the downward spiral exacerbated by eight masterful years of impeccable leadership and "international relations" building...(ok, I'm being sarcastic). Have a nice day.
I APPLAUD THE INTENTION AND THE GRAPHICS BUT I DON'T GET THE MEANING.Thanks for the comment. The cartoon came out looking good but I seemed to have missed the mark a little on tying the economy and evolution together. I guess I can't make them all perfect like I would like. Thanks again and have a great day.Ira
