I have been watching about the "State of the Economy" on the news lately and the inevitable future of another billion dollar stimulus package. People's opinions vary on the subject just as they do on any other subject brought up these days. It is all very interesting to say the least. I have to say that when I think about it from the frame of mind that something needs to be done quickly and in the absence of truly not knowing everything about a complex economy such as ours, throwing money at it makes some kind of sense because you would not want to be on the other end of public opinion for doing nothing. When I think of it on a more common sense level, I keep coming to the conclusion that it will have very little long term effects because it is not creating long term sustainable jobs or products that can be sold to create revenue and growth. In my opinion it is a rather expensive band-aid in the hope that something better will happen in the future. I equate it to losing your job and using credit cards to survive during the time of unemployment in the hopes that something just as good or better will come along. It might happen or it might not. I guess time will tell. This cartoon came from this line of thinking. Enjoy and have a great day.
Ira,Yes, another great thinking piece! Thanks for sharing this with us...and I totally agree with this statement: "...you would not want to be on the other end of public opinion for doing nothing..."
This reminds me of a political cartoon I saw a while ago - it was Roosevelt splashing money into the economy 'pump' to try and salvage the depression. Quite clearly, the message was that he had no real clear-cut plan and was simply throwing money into the air in hopes of better days. Maybe that's the case now, perhaps they follow his successful example, and cross their fingers...
Ira, I love your cartoon and there we are in it standing idly and muching and waiting for them to milk us somemore and open the gate to the next pasture. MOOOOOOOOO. Best wishes.Hi all,Thanks for the comments. This process has been interesting to watch. I guess we'll see how it plays out. Again, thanks for the comments and I wish you all well.Ira
