I was watching a news program on one of the financial networks the other day and the discussion was on the market and investing. After a while the conversation turned to 401k's and the hammering that many people took during the downturn and advice on what people could do with the remaining money in their plan. Of course the whole, "don't panic and invest long term" stuff came up and it got me thinking about other ways in which to protect my hard earned money. I thought back to a story I read about where a lady had put her life savings in a box of crackers because she was scared of loosing it all in the market. She accidentally returned the box of crackers to the store were she purchased them and the money was found by another family who ended up returning the money to her. She was lucky the people who found it were honest people. Talk about fearing something so much that you almost make it happen, anyway I thought of this cartoon from all of this because I thought it would have served that lady better to keep the money in her mattress. Enjoy and have a great day.
