How Does the Moose Population Feel These Days?

I did this cartoon wondering what it must feel like to be a Moose in Sarah Palin's home state of Alaska . I would also like to give a shout out to the Moose population in Maine , my birth state. There are not many more things more frightening than coming face to face with a Moose unarmed. It happened to me when I was six years old. I was at my grandparent's camp on the lake. It was the middle of the night and I had to take a leak. I headed out to the outhouse which was a little ways up the road. I stumbled my way up the road in the dark with a small flashlight in hand. As I got closer to the outhouse I heard a thump noise and then a click echoed through the darkness of the woods.
I turned and pointed my flashlight further up the road when I saw the beast. It was cold out so when he snorted, steam shot out his nose like something out of the Saturday morning cartoons I loved so much. He brushed the ground with his front hoof as if he was going to charge me like the massive bull he was. The only thing I remember after that was one, I didn't have to take a leak anymore and two, I wish I had a gun because I'm sure I would have shot at him rather than running at the speed of light back to my safe warm bed in the cabin which was a little warmer since I didn't get to use the outhouse.

Good story and funny cartoon. Shout out to the east, I am from Va. but currently residing in sunny San Diego.
Great story, Ira. I can just picture you running away from that moose. I'm sure it was terrifying to a little boy. Thanks for sharing--and a great cartoon, too.Welcome to Searchwarp.Sandra
Hi Ira.The cartoon is great and so is your description of a chance meeting with a bull moose. Hope I never come face to face with one. I did crawl out of my sleeping bag one morning to feel the breath of a coyote on my face. That was something!Dianne
It's nice to pick on the losers. Moose are here for multiple uses not just to scare little ones.
